Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners want to inform residents of the following temporary parking restrictions to help keep traffic moving and allow crews to work safely and remove snow:
✅ Effective immediately: No parking along the entire length of Bergenline Avenue
✅ Tuesday, 1/27 starting at 6:00 AM: No parking on 60th Street (Bergenline Ave to Park Ave)
✅ Wednesday, 1/28: No parking along the entire length of Park Avenue
🚸 Ongoing reminder: No parking in YELLOW school zones near all schools
Please plan ahead, move your vehicles accordingly, and help avoid towing or citations. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our community safe.
Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners would like to inform residents that parking regulations will be actively enforced for resident parking and public safety areas, including fire hydrants, bus stops, crosswalks, and double parking.
🚫 Street cleaning and metered parking regulations are suspended until further notice.
🗑️ Garbage pickup will continue as scheduled.
🏛️ Town Hall remains open and ready to serve our community.

Due to ongoing snow cleanup from the storm, the Recreation Department has cancelled all activities for Tuesday, January 27th, 2026.

The storm is underway, and hazardous conditions exist throughout the area. DPW crews are actively plowing and salting, but roads remain dangerous. Please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Staying home helps keep you safe and allows emergency responders and plow crews to do their jobs effectively.

Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners want to make residents aware of a severe winter storm expected to impact our area. Please take time now to prepare.
❄️ Charge phones, power banks, tablets, and rechargeable lanterns
❄️ Fill vehicle gas tanks
❄️ Keep some cash on hand (small bills)
❄️ Refill prescriptions and essential medications
❄️ Download movies, books, and maps for offline use
❄️ Choose one warm room to stay in if power is lost
❄️ Locate your breaker box and water shut-off valve
❄️ Set refrigerator and freezer to colder settings
❄️ Drip faucets on exterior walls during freezing temperatures
❄️ Open sink cabinets to allow warm air circulation
❄️ Disconnect and cover outdoor hoses and faucets
❄️ Know how to shut off water if a pipe bursts
❄️ Fill containers or tubs with water for basic needs
❄️ Keep 3–5 days of no-cook food
❄️ Have a manual can opener
❄️ Stock shelf-stable or powdered milk
❄️ Freeze water bottles to help keep food cold
❄️ Limit buying perishables right before the storm
❄️ Gather blankets, sleeping bags, and warm layers
❄️ If using a fireplace, ensure the chimney is clear
❄️ Never use generators or grills indoors or in garages
❄️ Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
❄️ Use flashlights or battery lanterns instead of candles
❄️ Avoid driving once freezing rain begins
❄️ Bridges and overpasses freeze first
❄️ Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle
❄️ Replace wiper blades and top off washer fluid
❄️ Expect possible travel and flight disruptions
❄️ Unplug sensitive electronics
❄️ Keep a battery radio or weather app for updates
❄️ Use surge protectors when possible
❄️ Know the location of local warming centers
❄️ Keep refrigerators closed to maintain temperature
❄️ Bring pets indoors with extra food and water
❄️ Ensure outdoor animals have unfrozen water
❄️ Add straw or blankets to shelters
❄️ Keep leashes and carriers accessible
❄️ Keep a written list of medications
❄️ Maintain a basic first-aid kit
❄️ Have backup batteries for medical devices
❄️ Identify a place with power if relocation becomes necessary
❄️ Secure outdoor furniture and loose items
❄️ Move vehicles away from trees and power lines
❄️ Complete tree trimming before the storm

Deputy Public Works Director
POSITION DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS
The Town of West New York is seeking a Deputy Public Works Director to work under the general direction of the Director. The Deputy Director will support the operations of the West New York DPW.
Qualifications/Responsibilities:
Plans, directs, manages and oversees the activities, projects, and operations of the Public Works Department, including street maintenance, vehicle upkeep, snow removal, design and construction, facility and grounds maintenance and repair; performs related duties as required. Coordinates assigned activities with other Town departments and outside agencies. Provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of Public Works.
Due to the expected snow storm, all non‑emergency vehicles should remain off the road until roadways are safely cleared. WNY DPW are prepared for the coming storm. Please stay home if you can, there are multiple dangers including rapid icing, slippery surfaces, and reduced visibility. For emergencies, call 911. Non emergencies call 201.295.5000

West New York will host a Food Protection Course that trains individuals in food protection practices to ensure the safety of the food served in food establishments. The NJ Health Code requires at least one supervisor certified in food protection on site whenever a food service establishment.
The course in English will take place on September 30th & October 1st. The course in Spanish will take place on October 2nd & 3rd. Don’t hesitate to contact West New York Health Department to reserve your spot if interested.
