West New York’s Resident Permit Parking Program is an initiative designed to give residents a better chance of finding an on-street parking space near their home. The program started because residents were concerned about the increasing number of non-resident vehicles parked on West New York streets. Commuters and non-residents were turning our neighborhoods into parking lots, and residents could not park on their own block. Many of the parking spaces on West New York’s residential streets are regulated as “Resident Parking Only,” and we ask for simple verification of West New York residency to ensure our residents have the best access to spots in their neighborhoods and to combat non-residents from taking residential spots.
Required for Commercial Vehicles that park in Residential Parking Permit Zones in order to alleviate the hardship experienced by residents in obtaining an on-street parking space, to preserve the residential quality of neighborhoods and to provide for improvements in air quality, vehicular traffic, and noise pollution.
