Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners would like to address a common question we’ve been receiving: where is all the snow removed from West New York going?
Hudson County permitted West New York and neighboring communities to transport snow to the parking lot at James J. Braddock Park (North Hudson Park). The photos show the progression, from the initial dumping, to several days in, and finally a snow mound reaching approximately 65 feet, which marked the closure of that site for snow removal.
A second county-approved location in Secaucus also reached capacity after just 2–3 days. At this time, there are no additional approved locations available under Department of Environmental Protection regulations.
Thank you for your understanding as we continue working through these challenging conditions.
