Welcome to the West New York Cultural Center, the municipality’s first dedicated community arts space and a vibrant new home for creativity, learning, and connection. Located at 5712 Bergenline Avenue in West New York, the center was created to uplift local artists, students, and residents through a dynamic mix of visual arts, live performances, literary events, community lectures, children’s programming, and interactive workshops.

Operating in partnership with the West New York Public Affairs Department and the WNY Public Library, and situated next to the new public library now under construction, the Cultural Center is designed to bring artistic and educational resources together under one roof for the entire community.

A Season to Remember at the West New York Cultural Center!

Spring and Summer 2026 have been an extraordinary season for the West New York Cultural Center. As part of the West New York Public Library, the Cultural Center has proudly hosted many beloved Library programs while the new Public Library is under construction — keeping the community connected and the calendar full.

From children’s storytelling and senior Tai Chi to art exhibitions, film screenings, jazz concerts, and book presentations, there truly was something for everyone. Many of these events were made possible through our partnership with local non-profit West New York Arts, whose support has helped bring remarkable talent to our stage season after season.

The Highlight of the Season:
David Oquendo, From West New York to Broadway and Back!

The season reached its peak with a record-breaking concert presented by Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners in collaboration with West New York Arts. Grammy and Tony Award winner David Oquendo — Associate Musical Director, Arranger, Guitarist, and Singer of the hit Broadway musical Buena Vista Social Club — delivered an electrifying two-hour performance to a packed house. Joined by top musicians and special guests including former NY Mets star turned Broadway performer Jose “Candelita” Iglesias, the night was pure magic from start to finish.

West New York Celebrates the Grand Opening of Its First Cultural Center

On April 23, 2026, West New York Mayor Albio Sires, joined by Commissioners Marielka Díaz, Víctor Barrera and Adam Parkinson, officially inaugurated the brand-new West New York Cultural Center. The celebration marked a proud milestone for the community, welcoming residents into a space built to honor local creativity and bring people together. Presented in collaboration with West New York Arts, a non-profit organization representing many local artists in the area, the center’s first official events set a vibrant tone for what’s to come, beginning with the art exhibition “The Ground We Share.” Curated by Mayken Barreto, the showcase featured works by 13 local artists: William Pérez, Danay Vigoa, Sandra Cordero, Loretoh, Armando Guiller, Claudia Blanco, Camila Lobón, Pedro Valerino, Osy Milián, Jairo Alfonso, Douglas Arguelles, and Jorge Wellesley.

The evening also came alive with a special performance by The Bergenliners, a musical band created just for the occasion. The ensemble brought together a remarkable lineup of talent: Emilio Valdés on drums, singer and instrumentalist Franroy Delson, Frank Rodríguez on bongos, Sergio Valdés on guitar, Alexis Romay on bass and guitar, Narryman Piña on piano, Juan Ruiz on soprano saxophone, and Daniel Jordan on percussion. Together, the exhibition and the concert offered a fitting introduction to a center designed to celebrate art, culture, and community for generations to come.

Art Exhibition “Form, Line, and theLanguage of Sculpture”

Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners, in collaboration with WestNYArts, invite you to the opening of the art exhibition: “Form, Line, and theLanguage of Sculpture”.

Roberto Estopiñan was an icon of modernist sculpture who also excelled in printmaking. Since 1950, he explored themes of totems, warriors, prisoners, and the human condition through a range of graphic mediums, always achieving a striking balance between form and content. His work is held in prestigious institutions across the United States, including MOMA, the Smithsonian, and the Brooklyn Museum, cementing his place as a lasting voice in modern art.
