Commissioner Cosmo A. Cirillo is a life-long resident of West New York with a passion for public service.  His connection to West New York began when his grandparents immigrated with his father to the United States from Italy in 1972 and chose to call West New York their home.  His family has lived here ever since.

At the age of 16, Commissioner Cirillo began interning for the Town and continued his employment throughout his college career.  He attended Seton Hall University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.  He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Caldwell University.

At the age of 20, he was appointed to the West New York Board of Education and served on the Board for over four years; two of those years as the Board President.  In addition to this, Commissioner Cirillo also served as the ABC Board Secretary and the Deputy Town Clerk of West New York.

After his municipal employment, Commissioner Cirillo served as Chief of Staff to Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez from 2012 to 2014 and Senior Advisor to NJ Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto from 2014 to 2017.

Having a passion for local government, Commissioner Cirillo returned to municipal government in the neighboring Town of Guttenberg where he currently serves as Town Administrator.

Commissioner Cirillo is extremely proud to represent the residents of West New York as the youngest individual to become a Commissioner within the Town.
